Kollegio AI set out to make college counseling accessible to everyone. A private counselor can cost ten thousand dollars or more, so the students who need guidance most are usually the ones who cannot afford it. The goal was to deliver that same level of help through software, for free, to students anywhere.

Background
What we built
Sprout's founder joined Kollegio as founding engineer and built the core product in Next.js and Node.js. The platform matches students to colleges based on their profile, gives AI feedback on application essays, surfaces scholarships they qualify for, and maps out direct admission pathways. Each feature had to feel personal while running reliably for a very large student base.
Outcome
Kollegio is Stanford-backed and funded by Reach Capital, and it now serves more than 300,000 students. It is a clear example of how Sprout builds AI products that hold up under real scale, not just in a demo.
